Running $64 billion deficit over 2 year warranted?

The estimated Canadian budget deficit for the 2009 and 2010 fiscal years will be $64 billion ($34 billion for 2009 and $30 billion for 2010). Do you think that creating that much money is warranted, in a country with a population of a little over 30 million?

If this is going to create more jobs, then yes it is warranted. If it's going to be spent on bailing out banks and other failed businesses then no.

Of course it's warranted. This is the only way to get the economy back on track quickly. The Canadian government is doing the right thing, even though I generally don't support conservatives.

Of course you would support liberals, because they'll give you free money, higher inflation, non-productive assets appreciation (read houses), and all the consumer crap you are addicted to.

The only way to get the economy back on track is to leave it alone. The government has no business in running the economy and is only making things worse. All these deficits will ultimatelly have to be paid back, and this can only happen through higher taxes.

The solution to the deficit problem is simple - shrink the size of the government in half. They do not produce anything anyway, and simply take from productive members of the society and give to unproductive ones.
