First of all HELLO, I am a newbie on here and at 38 years old I am have some belated interest in planning for retirement. What I am looking for is some advice or opinions on financial planning from someone who is not selling me a policy or a mutual fund. My mutual funds thru Sunlife have not done well in the last 10 years as well as my rrsp at BMO. A primarica agent visited me and says he can do way better than Sunlife or the banks. Maybe concentrating on paying my mortgage down is a better idea or the tax free bank account may be the better investment ? What do you guys think ?

It's very hard to get unbiased financial advice. If I were you I would get out of debt as soon as I can. Since I started managing my own investments I have seen much better returns compared to when I had my money in mutual funds.

It's not hard to get a good financial advice, you just need to know where to look.

I hope nobody follows your moronic financial advice, as this will ruin them.
