I am interested in investing in the stock market but I know nothing about it. What would you recommend will be a good read for someone like me? Where should I start?

Many blue chip companies' shares have been beaten down badly, to levels not sen in years. I don't think that this will continue much longer and I see this as a buying opportunity. If you do your own due diligence, you should be able to find many companies offering great value, which are on sale now.

Depending on your circumstance and your goals for investing there are a lot of possible scenarios for where you should start.

What are you trying to accomplish by investing other than the obvious of making money.

What is the money for? How long will it be invested? What's your risk tolerance.

Have you looked at P/E for those "bargains" lately? If you have, then you would know that for many companies P/E is actually higher now with the recent stock market surge, than it was when DOW was around 14K. Make your own conclusions...

For me the most important goal right now is capital preservation.

Investing in stocks and shares has never been easier, and there have never been more reasons to do it.With the right strategy, stock market investing is a very simple and lucrative area of ongoing income generation, even for beginners.

What a bunch of crap. Are you posting on this forum, so you can get your post count high enough to put up a spammy signature?

I would read books by John Bogle, Peter Lynch and Joel Greenblatt.
