I am 42, had a credit card in my 20s. Like most young people, I abused my card. I cancelled the card, paid it off, that was that. Here I am, 20 years later and I want to establish credit. I have worked in the Financial industry for close to 20 years now, the last 12 years at the same place. What are my best options here?

Is this card the only credit instrument you have used in the last 20 years? No mortgage, car lease/finance, line of credit?

It is and was my only venture into credit! No loans, no lines of credit, no store cards, rented apts all my life, so no mortgages.

You can start with a secured credit card from any of the big 5 Canadian banks or you can try getting unsecured MasterCard with low limit from Canadian Tire.
