Anyone on here had any problems with Manulife Financial Extended Health refusing costs of medical equipment ordered by a Dr. ??

I had never received a copy of my policy, or a booklet outlining what is covered, and when I requested one, was sent an application form, along with the general pamphlets showing a very general outline of what could be covered! (despite having given them policy number and so on earlier in the conversation)..

We have had a private policy with them for several years, and recently require surgery - have to have medical equipment at home (face-down recovery system), and have been told that it was not covered.

When I inquired as to what Extended Health care was for, I was told that it covered a hospital bed, wheelchair, crutches, walkers, and so on, but that what I require was not covered, and that furthermore, they didn't have time to look up, among their thousands of entries, whether Vitrectomy, or Vitrectomy Recovery was mentioned anywhere!!

In addition, since I have to travel, with an attendant, to a different city (the procedure is not available here) - this is also not covered!!

Sorry for the length of the post -

Anyone? :(
