I'm a 30 something married woman with a young toddler. I'm the "breadwinner" in my house, and all the pressure is on me to continue working to live. My husband has had alot of job issues over the past few years, and has never made quite as much money as I, which isn't such a big deal, but it's not easy getting by with all the debt we have.

We were okay in the beginning, then we got married (took on a personal loan), got a couple credit cards (huge mistake), and spiraled out of control with those until my husband lost his job, and making ends meet became difficult. And I was now pregnant. Our landlord died, which forced us to move, and we decided to get a house, as it was cheaper than our rent. Not a bad move, but the house came with issues. It's old, needs repairs (new roof which we can't afford), and other things menial.

However, we both work for the same company. And we went on strike last summer for 5 weeks. It's put us in the hole so bad, our debts are even worse off than before, and now we can't make ends meet. I can't keep up now. We're so far behind. I saw someone to file a consumer proposal. But, I'm afraid to do it, as we won't have a credit history anymore. I'm afraid that will hurt our changes at mortgage renewal? At the same time, I don't want to have these cards anymore, and would rather pay them all off. We have no money for emergencies, car repairs, etc. I'm now having to do payday loans half the time to get by because we're so short.

What should we do?? Any advice?? Anyone else here do a consumer proposal and have a success story??

Oh, and going to a family member is not an option, for either one of us.

Relax, enjoy the baby and the hubby (this is all you got), our life is too short and 2012 is round the corner! We have to redesign the whole matrix. The law was created by white collared mobsters, criminals and juvenile delinquents to protect themselves from the public. Our life is based on rip off, deceit, bubbles and living in denial!
Sorry to say so but we are in the same shoes and it was not without our participation!
